WOOD RIVER — Public hearings on Wood River’s $24.4 million budget and proposed $6 million detention pond improvement were held Monday before the start of the regular Wood River City Council meeting.

The project is estimated to cost $6 million to $6.5 million. The city recently received $850,000 in federal funding from U.S. Rep. Nikki Budzinski.
