GRANITE CITY (First Alert 4) — U.S. Congresswoman from Illinois Nikki Budzinski voiced frustration Tuesday in Granite City over the Trump administration slashing funding and the impacts to the state.

Budzinski (D, IL 13) met with 15 community leaders from southern Illinois who represent projects that Budzinski said were previously approved by Congress. The projects cannot move forward because of a lack of federal funding in the continuing resolution passed in March that kept the government open.

It includes a sewer project in Cahokia Heights that is now on pause. Budzinski said the uncertainty around funding can be paralyzing for local communities. She said she plans to re-submit the projects for the next fiscal year.
