As the daughter of a public school teacher and a proud product of a strong public education, I have always believed in the importance of investing in our public schools. Math, science, and reading scores are down across the board. We owe it to the next generation to invest in our public schools so that every student—no matter their background—has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
- I’m a proud supporter of our teachers and know that they need to be paid a living wage to ensure success.
- I know that support staff in schools are undervalued, so I joined a resolution recognizing the importance of paraprofessionals as well as the ESP Family Leave Act to ensure that paraprofessionals are eligible for family leave benefits.
- Public schools are critical to supporting our nation’s future. That’s why I am strongly opposed to efforts to privatize our school system through vouchers.
- I support full funding for Title I and IDEA, two programs that support our students who need it most.
